Our STory
Cristo Rey Boston High School, formerly North Cambridge Catholic High School, joined the Cristo Rey Network® in 2004 to combine a rigorous college preparatory education with a unique work-study program. The model made private education accessible to students with limited financial resources. The school relocated to Dorchester in 2010, placing it closer to the community it serves.
Since adopting the work-study model, the percentage of graduates enrolling in college has soared from 29% to over 90%. A comprehensive academic turnaround, including mandatory Advanced Placement (AP) courses, an intensive college counseling program that begins the first year, dedicated time for PSAT and SAT preparation, and comprehensive teacher development programs, ensures that all graduates achieve acceptance to four-year colleges. Cristo Rey Boston provides a transformative educational experience, offering students from under-resourced communities the tools, opportunities, and support needed to succeed in college and their careers.
